Election Countdown: 11 Days
What can convince a county board that has approved 40 charter schools (including 20 Rocketship schools) in 11 years to uphold the local denial of VOICES and Navigator by the Morgan Hill Unified School District? It is a simple answer . . . Claudia Rossi being elected to the Santa Clara County School Board and Steve Klem, Donna Foster-Ruebsuch, David Gerard, and Ron Woolf being elected to the Morgan Hill Unified School Board.
We can write e-mails and make speeches, and we have. We can gather data and do research, and we have. But ultimately this election will tell the county board (and the charter industry) what Morgan Hill wants for our public schools. It will tell them that, in Morgan Hill, teachers are respected as educational professionals and experts. It will them that we believe in teaching the whole child, not just what a child will be tested on. It will tell them that Morgan Hill believes in diversity and inclusion, not segregation and stratification. It will tell them that our community does not believe that education is a business. It will tell them that the charter industry cannot buy our school board.
Our endorsed candidates are working hard for this election. But if you want the Santa Clara County School Board to deny VOICES and Navigator . . . If you want our dual-immersion school to continue to grow . . . If you want Measure G and LCFF money to stay in local neighborhood schools . . YOU NEED TO DO YOUR PART to help elect Claudia Rossi to the Santa Clara County School Board and Steve Klem, Donna Foster-Ruebusch, David Gerard, and Ron Woolf to the Morgan Hill Unified School District.

San Jose Mercury News Letter to the Editor (10/22):
Hover-Smoot is not an independent voice
I was saddened to see the Mercury News recommendation ... of Julia Hover-Smoot for the County Office of Education Trustee Area 7 seat. The editorial claims Hover-Smoot is independent. As a registered voter in Trustee Area 7, I have received multiple mailers for Hover-Smoot from the “Charter Schools Association Advocates.”
In addition, she co-authored a 2011 op-ed for the Mercury News fawningly advocating for charter schools and Rocketship in particular. It is clear she is not independent.
I, for one, will be voting for Claudia Rossi....
