The Morgan Hill Federation is proud to endorse Steve Klem, David Gerard, Ron Woolf and Donna Foster-Ruebusch for the Morgan Hill Unified School District and Claudia Rossi for the Santa Clara County Board of Education. MHFT makes endorsements for local school board races as these elected officials will make critical decisions affecting our schools. Our candidates must go through an interview process and then be formally approved by our leadership team. These endorsed candidates are also supported by the South Bay Labor Council. MHFT endorsed candidates have all attended public forums, a variety of endorsement applications and interviews, and have attended many board meetings which is a clear indication of their commitment to our children.
Steve Klem was a district parent and is now the father of a teacher and the grandfather of a student in the district. Steve lives in South San Jose and has been active with both schools and the community for many years. His connection to businesses in the area will help MHUSD continue to expand its partnerships.
David Gerard will bring his background in leadership development to the MHUSD school board. As part of Leadership Morgan Hill, David learned about many different aspects of our district and the community. David's contacts and skills will be invaluable as the District reaches out to create more partnerships with the community.
Donna Foster-Ruebusch has been a parent, teacher, and teacher leader in our district. As a union leader, Donna worked to change our evaluation system and advocated that teachers be held to the highest standards of professionalism. She has an extensive knowledge of the new budget system and how the school board shapes policies to support student success.
Incumbant Ron Woolf, is the face of Mushroom Mardi Gras, which provides valuable scholarship opportunities for our students. Ron's service as a teacher, ASB Director, and administrator give him a unique perspective on the board. Ron has passionately advocated for more funding and technology in our classrooms and he remains a strong advocate for our youth.
MHFT joins teachers in Evergreen, Oak Grove, Gilroy and East Side Union in endorsing Claudia Rossi for the Santa Clara County School Board. Claudia has proved to be an excellent board member, as she studies issues from all sides, soliciting input from community members, district staff, and teachers. Claudia is passionate about creating a college-going culture in all schools.
Our endorsed candidates believe that
- public schools should be accountable to all stakeholders for providing the support each student needs to succeed
- public schools should enrich the lives of all students by providing a well-rounded curriculum in the arts, music, athletics, agriculture, technology, career tech, and community service, preparing them for both college and careers
- our tax dollars should be spent solely on the students within our district and that all financial transactions should be transparent and monitored by our elected community members
Please support Steven Klem, David Gerard, Donna Foster-Ruebusch, Ron Woolf and Claudi Rossi!
