Strategic Campaign Initiative Job Overviews

Title: Site Strategic Campaign Initiative Organizer
Reports to: MHFT President and Office Staff

Overview: The Morgan Hill Federation of Teachers is matching a grant from the Strategic Campaign Initiative through CFT to hire a Strategic Campaign Initiative Organizer at each of our 13 sites. MHFT believes that bringing teachers, administration, parents, and community members together is essential. We believe that this work is necessary to Reclaim the Promise of Quality Public Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Organize site meetings and community outreach events (three events total per site per year)
-Promote attendance for site members and community members for planned events (site or district)
-Attend quarterly meeting hosted by SCI Leaders.
-Co-facilitate site’s presentation for site’s school board meeting (with assistance of site building representative)

Qualifications:
-Respected teacher-leader on campus and within the community
-Ability to facilitate professional conversations with colleagues, administration, and community members
-Excellent communication skills
-Collaborative   
-Positive rapport and attitude        
-Effective organizational skills, including paperwork and deadlines     

Compensation: $500

Title: Strategic Campaign Initiative Organizer Lead
Reports to: MHFT President and Office Staff

Overview: The Morgan Hill Federation of Teachers is matching a grant from the Strategic Campaign Initiative through CFT to hire two Lead Organizers (one at the elementary level and one at the secondary level). MHFT believes that bringing teachers, administration, parents, and community members together is essential. We believe that this work is necessary to Reclaim the Promise of Quality Public Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Attend orientation meeting at MHFT Office on August 28, 2014
-Receive training September 5-6, 2014, at the CFT Bay Area office in Oakland
-Plan and host quarterly meetings attended by SCI Site Organizers
-Coordinate two district-wide events that bring our members in contact with parents, community members, and other stakeholders
-Participate in bi-weekly phone conferences with CFT leadership
-Develop and implement a plan to increase attendance at MHFT General Meetings and School Board Meetings
-Connect with community members and organizations to ensure that MHFT members find ways to engage with the community
-Promote attendance for site members and community members for planned events

Qualifications:
-Respected teacher-leader on campus and within the community
-Ability to facilitate professional conversations with colleagues, administration, and community members
-Excellent communication skills
-Collaborative   
-Positive rapport and attitude        
-Effective organizational skills, including paperwork and deadlines     

Compensation: $1000

Title: Strategic Campaign Initiative COPE Organizer
Reports to: MHFT President and Office Staff

Overview: The Morgan Hill Federation of Teachers is matching a grant from the Strategic Campaign Initiative through CFT to hire a COPE (Committee on Political Education) Organizer. MHFT has a COPE account that accepts voluntary donations to support important political work. MHFT has successfully recruited and endorsed local school board members during prior elections, and we are looking forward to recruiting and endorsing candidates for critical upcoming elections in November and June.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Receive training September 5-6, 2014, at the CFT Bay Area office in Oakland
-Attend COPE additional COPE training for COPE compliance (dates TBD)
-Organize ongoing COPE drive to help build COPE account for elections
-Organize two district-wide political outreach events per year
-Communicate and disseminate information (both electronic and hard copies) to members about candidates and issues
-Promote participation in precinct walks and phone banks
-Connect with community members and organizations to ensure that MHFT members find ways to engage with the community
-Promote attendance for site members and community members for planned events

Qualifications:
-Respected teacher-leader on campus and within the community
-Ability to facilitate professional conversations with colleagues, administration, and community members
-Excellent communication skills
-Fundraising experience is preferred
-Collaborative   
-Positive rapport and attitude
-Interest in the political process and local politics       
-Effective organizational skills, including paperwork and deadlines     

Compensation: $1500
